During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Chairwoman of the Board of County Commissioners Rebeca Sosa inaugurated a new Walking Track and Fitness Zone area built on the west side of the government center in support of his Worksite Wellness initiatives.  The track will be open 24/7 to County employees and the community at large.

“While working hard is important, it’s also important that we keep ourselves fit and healthy,” said Mayor Gimenez.  “That’s what the Spring into Wellness Fair was all about, getting fresh ideas about the things we can do, the foods we can eat, and the routines we can adopt in order to live healthier, happier lives.”

"AvMed is proud to partner with the County to improve the health of its employees and the community at large," said James M. Repp, AvMed Senior Vice President. "As the County's health care benefit provider, we are also very supportive of all of Mayor Gimenez's workplace wellness initiatives."

The Spring into Wellness Mega Fair is one of several Worksite Wellness initiatives sponsored by the Office of the Mayor.  The event is made possible with in-kind contributions from County Departments, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Miami-Dade County Health Department, the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade, The Miami-Dade County Employee Wellness Center as well as sponsorships from local vendors.
