Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez statement on Miami Heat championship

(MIAMI, June 21, 2013) – I’m thrilled that our hometown Miami HEAT took Game 7 last night and defended their title on the biggest stage in basketball. The HEAT have given our entire community so much pride, joy and excitement – maybe a little anxiety, too – and last night’s victory tops it all. Hats off to the San Antonio Spurs and their fans for an amazing effort. We were all lucky to witness the two best teams in the NBA go head-to-head for seven incredible games. For now, I’m looking forward to a Tex-Mex feast from San Antonio’s Mi Tierra Café Y Panadería, and I’m even more excited to team up with Mayor Julian Castro and City Year for a day of service at our local schools. Let’s Go HEAT!
