Statement from Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez on the departure of Deputy Mayor Genaro “Chip” Iglesias

(MIAMI, July 23, 2014) – It is with mixed emotions that I accept Genaro “Chip” Iglesias’ resignation effective July 31. 

Chip has an exemplary record of public service to our community that dates back several decades. He served as my Chief of Staff when I was both a County Commissioner and the Manager of the City of Miami. He also served as a firefighter and paramedic for 24 years in the City of Miami where he achieved the rank of Captain.

Chip has always placed service to others at the forefront of his professional career and he will be missed. He is a long-time adviser and friend, and I wish him all the best as he takes his skills and talents to the private sector.
