MDFR maintains full-time county-wide response capabilities for the control of hazardous material (Hazmat) and toxic substance releases. Hazmat units are equipped with a wide range of protective clothing, chemical detection and sampling devices, containment devices, a materials identification computer system, and state-of-the-art communications and meteorological equipment.
