MDFR's Media & Public Relations Bureau staff strives to be responsive and professional, acting in compliance with federal and state public record laws and in the best interest of the department, news media, and the residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County. Routine media inquiries and records requests are handled as expeditiously as possible during normal business hours:
Monday thru Thursday 7a.m. to 11p.m. and Friday 7a.m. to 6p.m.
After hours and on weekends, a Public Information Officer (PIO) is always on-call for emergencies and for significant breaking news events. After hours, the on-call PIO will generally not have information regarding routine fire or medical calls. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, PIOs will not release protected health information, including patient identity or medical condition. In addition, on-call PIOs are not available to provide details regarding incidents that are primarily being handled by other agencies, regardless if MDFR is assisting.

MDFR on-call PIOs should be contacted after hours, only in situations of high importance. The on-call PIO changes on a scheduled basis, so the most efficient way to reach a PIO after hours is to call MDFR's Fire Alarm Office at 786-336-6633 and request that the on-call PIO be paged.
To ensure proper and timely response, media should not attempt to directly contact PIOs via their cell phones. On-call procedures require that PIOs respond to after hours requests in the order received via pager.

Written records, including incident reports and other department documents, are not available after hours. All public record requests must be made during normal business hours. Click Here for more about requesting MDFR public records.
