    Remembering When
A program aimed at teaching older adults how to prevent falls and other emergencies in the home. For groups of 10 or more.

    Pillow Dancing
Usually used in conjunction with the Remembering When presentation, Pillow Dancing is an innovative fall prevention program that employs an interactive dance routine to help strengthen legs and increase mobility in the elderly. For groups of 5 or more.

    Smoke Detectors
The Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Department Community Affairs Section distributes free smoke detectors to elderly citizens (ages 62 and over) who are receiving government assistance.

Elderly citizens can call 786-331-4920 to request a free smoke detector or to have their smoke/fire detectors checked.

This benefit is only for low income or elderly persons on aid (i.e. Social Security Income (SSI), Social Security Aid (SSA), Medicare, Medicaid, Temporary or Needy Family (TANF) etc.

For more information, call the Community Affairs Section at 786-331-4920 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

    Elder Links
An MDFR community outreach program that provides intervention to MDFR patients in cases which might qualify as abuse, neglect or exploitation, and also serves as a referral system for patients and their families that might be in need. Through a collaborative effort between MDFR, local hospitals, and other government and community agencies, essential information pertaining to patient welfare is shared through the Elder Links network, effectively extending the scope of assistance beyond incident response operations for the most vulnerable members of our community.  To learn more, visit the Elder Links page.

For more information, or to schedule, please call 786-331-4800.
