PAL Summer Camp
The PAL Summer Camp is an innovative eight-week day camp that is provided free of charge to at-risk youth in our community. The Camp is offered to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13 who are residents of MDC and reside in low-income households. The Camp, which is funded by a grant from The Children’s Trust, commences the week after school ends and concludes prior to classes resuming after summer vacation. Lunch, snacks, and refreshments are provided for the participants. The Camp is geared toward opening up the channels of communication and improving relations between police officers and at-risk youth in our community. The selected activities are designed to promote positive and healthy attitudes; encourage self-esteem and self-confidence; provide participants with alternatives in conflict resolution; and endorse nonviolent management of social conflicts.
