DARE Vehicle
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Community Affairs Bureau purchased a 2006 Ford Mustang for the DARE program, with fundraising monies collected by students. The vehicle was purchased to attract the students’ attention while learning the DARE curriculum. The vehicle has been modified with a custom paint job, alloy wheels, and sleek police lights. The DARE vehicle is not only showcased in Miami-Dade County schools, but also shown at various public events throughout the year.
For additional information on displaying the DARE vehicle in your next event or to schedule an appearance, contact Lieutenant John McLaughlin at (305) 471-1716, or e-mail at jemclaughlin@mdpd.com. We require at least two weeks notice prior to your event.

DARE to Walk the Walk
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s, Community Affairs Bureau sponsors an annual fundraising 5k walk. This walk is the first ever charitable event to benefit 5th grade students in Miami-Dade County schools. During the event, students walk throughout the Miami Metro zoo before the park opens. They enjoy seeing the animals and get to contribute to a great cause at the same time. After the event, students are treated to refreshments and age appropriate entertainment for their efforts. In addition, students qualify for prizes for their participation.
All monies raised from the DARE to Walk the Walk fundraising event, directly enhances the learning experience of the 20,000 children who receive the DARE program during the school year.
