SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD UNIT
The School Crossing Guard (SCG) Unit consists of 500 SCGs, 16 SCG Supervisors, and 4 SCG Coordinators. The SCG program is designed to interact with the community in promoting and ensuring the safety of children as they move about to and from school. The SCG’s first concern is the safety of children, and to provide safe passage for them as they cross given roadways. Information disseminated by the Educational Unit is reinforced by the SCGs at the crosswalk. We presently serve 119 elementary schools throughout unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County.
Applications are accepted Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., at the Miami-Dade Police Department Fred Taylor Headquarters Building, 9105 NW 25 Street, Room 1044, Miami, FL 33172. Also, the applicant must apply online at www.miamidade.gov/jobs.
To inquire further about the SCG program, please contact Administrative Officer 3 Armando A. Penedo (305) 471-1714, or e-mail at apenedo@mdpd.com.
