Unlicensed Contractor Unit (UCU)
The UCU is primarily tasked with conducting criminal investigations of contractor fraud. UCU works closely with the Building Code Compliance Office (BCCO) to assist them with criminal investigations and assist in monthly meetings that pertain to Licensing and Building Code regulations that affect the construction industry within Miami-Dade County. UCU also conducts commercial vehicle checkpoints to target unlicensed contractors, and to ensure that commercial vehicles are properly marked according to Miami-Dade Code.

UCU has two photographers in the Unit who assist the entire Intergovernmental Bureau with evidentiary photographs, along with a multitude of different photographic details for the department. In addition the UCU also provides surveillance assistance on major cases for local, state, and federal agencies.
The UCU has created an innovative style of investigating and apprehending criminals and has been instrumental in the training of newly formed units in other agencies statewide.
Criminal Code Investigations Unit (CCIU)
The Criminal Code Investigations Unit consists of a North and South Squad, as well as the Special Enforcement Unit, and works in conjunction with two Team Metro Neighborhood Compliance Officers. The Unit is responsible for addressing criminal code violations as well as quality of life issues. Additionally, the Unit provides assistance to outside agencies such as the Florida Department of Health, Building and Zoning Department, and Team Metro enforcement officers from local offices. Both the North and South Squads assist the Nuisance Abatement Unit with investigations and presentations of cases to the Nuisance Abatement Board. Officers also attend the monthly Citizens Advisory Committee meetings held at the various Districts in our continuous efforts to fight crime, abate nuisances, improve citizen quality-of-life issues, and foster solidarity between police and the community.
Regular large-scale community clean-ups are conducted throughout Dade County with the assistance of other county departments such as Team Metro, Solid Waste, as well as the community.
