Central Records Bureau (CRB) is located within the Fred Taylor Building at the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) located at 9105 NW 25 Street, Doral, Florida. The CRB maintains and distributes public records including Arrest Forms, Offense/Incident (O/I) (case) Reports, Florida Traffic Crash (accident) reports, and investigative reports. CRB also provides Police Clearance letters detailing criminal history information to the public for: Citizenship/Immigration, Employment, Adoption, Investigation, Education/Schools, Legal/Lawyers/Courts and personal reasons. CRB is open to the public Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm, and is closed on weekends and holidays. Email: recordsrequest@mdpd.com.E-mail.
Offense/Incident (O/I) Reports
An O/I report, commonly called “case” report, is prepared by MDPD officers to detail incidents such as robberies, burglaries, assaults, car thefts, etc. Copies of O/I reports are often necessary for insurance purposes. Copies of O/I reports may be obtained in person, by mail, or by e-mail. Requests are processed at the Miami-Dade Police Department, Public Counter, Mondays through Fridays, during the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. closed weekends and holidays. Mail in requests for O/I reports must be addressed to above address. Mark the envelope “Attention Correspondence Unit”. Email requests for O/I reports may be made at the website: recordsrequest@mdpd.com.
The following information is necessary when making a request for a copy of an O/I report:
- The 14 digit case number (beginning with PD)
- Date and/or location of the incident
- Names of involved persons
O/I reports are available at the District of occurrence within 14 days of date of incident and available at Central Records Bureau within four weeks from the date of incident.
Florida Traffic Crash Reports (FTCR)
Florida Traffic Crash reports, or accident reports, are prepared by Law Enforcement officers to detail the results of automobile accidents/crashes. Copies of the FTCR are often necessary for insurance purposes. Copies of the FTCR may be obtained in person, by mail, or by e-mail. As specified in the Florida State Statute, Chapter 119.07, the FTCR may be made immediately available only to the parties involved in the crash. The portions of crash reports that reveal personal information concerning the parties involved in a motor vehicle crash is confidential and exempt from public disclosure for 60 days after the report is filed.
Copies of the FTCR are available at the Miami-Dade Police Department Public Counter.

Police Clearance Letters
The Central Records Bureau Public Counter researches and prepares criminal background checks on individuals for immigration/citizenship, housing, employment, adoption, investigations, education/schools, legal/lawyers/courts and personal reasons, and for the preparation of a Police Clearance Letter.
Clearance Letters may be obtained in person, by mail, or by e-mail. In person requests are processed at the Miami-Dade Police Department Public Counter, Mondays through Fridays, during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed on weekends and holidays.
Mail in requests for Clearance Letters must be addressed to the attention of the Correspondence Unit. Email requests for Clearance Letters may be made at recordsrequest@mdpd.com.
The following information is necessary to obtain a Police Clearance letter:
- Name (including maiden, and other additional names)
- Race
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Driver’s license number
- Requestor’s name
- Address
- Telephone number
For mail in requests, please complete the Public Records Request Form and submit the form with a money order for $5.00 per request, placed in a self addressed, stamped, envelope.
Fees
- Clearance Letters are $5.00 each
Requests requiring extensive research or processing time of more than 20 minutes will be charged at the hourly rate of the employee performing the research in accordance with Florida Statutes and Miami-Dade County Administrative Orders.
- Certified copies are $1.00 per page
- Non-certified copies are $0.15 per page single- sided, and $0.20 per page double- sided.
Fingerprinting
Fingerprinting service is offered at the following Miami-Dade Police Department District Stations. The Central Records Bureau Public Counter does not offer fingerprinting services.
Identity Theft
Identify Theft involves the unauthorized use of an individual’s name, social security number and other identifiers during the arrest process. This, at times, results in an arrest record being generated for the person whose name was falsely used. Central Records Bureau Public Counter assists these victims in receiving Identity Letters indicating their correct criminal history status.
Sealed and Expunged Records
Sealing a criminal record involves the removal from public record of information regarding a particular arrest. Expunging a criminal record involves the destruction of all information, and paperwork associated with a particular arrest. Central Records Bureau Public Counter does not accept or process applications to seal or expunge a record.
Individuals may receive copies of their sealed records, after correct identification, via the Central Records Bureau Public Counter. Expunged records are completely destroyed and are not available.
