Fleet Management Unit
|
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Fleet Management Bureau (FMB) is responsible for the purchasing, assigning, exchanging, tracking, and replacement of all departmental vehicles.
Miami-Dade County is a highly decentralized geographic environment. This condition necessitates a specialized fleet, which is a large expenditure in the Department’s budget. The Personalized Patrol Vehicle Program (PPVP) is a prime example of our fleet specialization. This program has increased police presence in the community, and is providing timely response to emergency or crisis situations.
Law enforcement situations, which require rapid mobilization, arise frequently and unexpectedly; therefore, all vehicles must be capable of optimum performance. All vehicles are continually inspected and maintained in order to provide safe operation, consistent with assigned use. FMB is committed to researching and implementing vehicle safety improvements, which will enhance and protect MDPD personnel.
