The Miami-Dade Police Department’s (MDPD) Bicycle Registration program was developed as a tool to assist in the recovery of lost or stolen bicycles to their rightful owners. Bicycle theft is a crime that causes financial loss and inconvenience in our communities. When a bicycle is recovered by our Department, every attempt is made to locate its owner, and the Bicycle Registration program has been a successful tool in that effort.
Protect Your Bicycle
 |
Register your bicycle with the police |
 |
Use a good quality locking device or a hardened steel chain and padlock |
 |
Lock your bicycle and both wheels to an immovable object |
Identification of Your Bicycle
Manufacturers mark new bicycles with a serial number. If you do not have a serial number on your bicycle, engrave an identifying number on the frame. You may want to put the same number on the wheels and on other parts of the bicycle.
Register Your Bicycle
There are two methods of registration:
1. Use the on-line Bicycle Registry
2. Pick up a bicycle registration form at the MDPD Headquarters Building, 9105 NW 25 Street, Doral or from any MDPD district station.
The registration forms can be filled out on new and/or used bicycles. Information that is needed on the registration form includes the owner’s name, address, and phone number, as well as a brief description of the bicycle, including the serial number. This information is entered into a database that allows MDPD to track the ownership of a bicycle.
Completed registration forms can be dropped off at any MDPD district station or can be forwarded to:
