There is an average charge of $37 per request and it takes between three (3) and four (4) weeks to process a request once it has been received by the Systems Development Bureau.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. Why does it take so long to fulfill a request?
    A. Each request follows a specific and detailed process to ensure that the information you have requested has been compiled correctly and to verify that all information released in your request is not exempt from public disclosure under FSS 119 – Public Records.

    Q. Can I pay a premium to expedite my request?
    A. Not at this time, there is currently no way to expedite your request. All requests are handled on a first come, first served basis and are handled as quickly as possible.

    Q. What formats can I get my request results in?
    A. Currently we can provide your requests in .PDF, .XLS, .CSV, or printed format. We can also provide results on a CD.  Please specify if you have a preference in your request. By default, we assume that you want the request results printed out and mailed back to you via US Mail.

    Q. Can you e-mail or fax me the results?
    A. Yes, this will also reduce the amount of time it takes to get the request results back. However, it may not be possible or practical to e-mail or fax large requests. Please ask for this service in your original request.

    Q. Now that I have a list of police case numbers, how can I get a copy of the actual Police report(s)?
    A. Please contact the Miami-Dade Police Department, Central Records Bureau, at 305-471-2085 to request copies of actual reports by MDPD Police Case Number. It should be noted that certain reports are exempt from public records and there may be an additional fee for the photocopying of the original report.
