The Academy receives numerous telephone calls and letters each year from parents impressed with their child’s progress. One parent stated after a graduation ceremony, “MLK has been a blessing to my son and my entire family. The teachers always informed me about my child’s developments and areas of concern. With their help, my son has truly improved his academic performance.

The Academy also received a Miami-Dade County proclamation (1998) recognizing the educational institution for its outstanding work with at-risk youths and was described as a model school by Miami-Dade County Public School’s Office of Educational Alternative Outreach Program, for its outstanding achievement on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
