Defendants and their parents or guardians may be recommended for participation in professional, culturally relevant psychological and psycho-educational services. Licensed Psychologists will provide an array of services including the following:  Individual Therapy; Family Counseling; Parenting Skills; and Psychological Evaluations.  The goal of the psychological services is to intervene in order to prevent further involvement in the justice system, to improve school performance, and to reduce acting-out behavior thereby increasing the youth's potential for success.  Defendants' "strengths and weaknesses" are evaluated in order to develop appropriate treatment and psycho-educational plans. This resource will help defendants get on the right track and become productive citizens.  Psychological Services include:

• The Family Empowerment Session - Strengthens families impacted by youth delinquency.  These sessions cover effective problem-solving methods and family character education. 
• Individual Youth Counseling - Helps defendants overcome issues related to peer pressure, substance abuse, conflict management, and other common adolescent adjustments. 
• The Parent Involvement Workshop - Assists parents and/or guardians with sharpening their parental skills enabling them to break the cycle of negative behaviors exhibited by their children.  The workshop addresses issues related to parental stress, improving parenting skills (parenting classes), and parent-child relationships.
