Over the years, Metro-Miami Action Plan Trust has evolved into a strong economic development powerhouse for Miami-Dade County's Black community. The powerhouse was created out of a need to effectively address critical impediments of community mobility and the necessity to rebuild the economic structure of local communities.
Economic Development Action Committee
As one of the most popular action committees spearheaded by MMAP, the Community and Economic Development Action Committee (CEDAC), now called the Economic Development Action Committee (EDAC), draws hundreds of business professionals, eager residents and aspiring entrepreneurs to its many workshops, monthly meetings and community forums.
The CEDAC was widely known for its credit repair workshops, apprenticeship job fairs, pastoral roundtables and growing banking consortium. Nevertheless, EDAC, the advocacy component of MMAP's Housing and Economic Development Division, primarily focuses on heightening the awareness of critical issues that impact the economic vitality of the Black community.
Its monthly meetings serve as the main venue to dialogue with invited guests and committee members responsible for the current state of affairs in areas affecting community and economic mobility; plus, it is a great opportunity to network among like-minded individuals.
In the future, EDAC will work with collaborative partners, banks, and private firms to ensure resources trickle down to Black businesses and the community.
To join EDAC or find out the location of the next meeting, contact community liaison Marlene Blanco at 305-372-7600 ext. 238.
