The deadline is approaching for my Summer Youth Internship Initiative (SYII). Last summer, our interns teamed up with the City of Miami Gardens for the Community Cleanup, a community service event that helped beautify the city of Miami Gardens. The purpose of the SYII program is to develop young talent into business leaders and provide work experience and employment opportunities for young adults in District 1 between the ages of 16 and 23. I look forward to seeing the accomplishments of the class of 2020 summer interns. The 2020 Summer Youth Internship Application deadline has been extended to April 30, 2020. Jordan sponsored legislation that was adopted late last year to change the name of the former Miami Gardens Community Resource Center to honor Rev. Graham who was a civil rights leader, pastor, and the first black male commissioner in the City of Miami.
