Thanks to you -- and your neighbors -- recycling as much as you do, Miami-Dade County achieved a fourth straight record year of recycling! Nearly 63,000 tons of recyclables made it through the County's award-winning curbside recycling program for the year that ended on Sept. 30, 2012. That's a lot of material that avoided final disposal and can instead be used to make new products. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done! >>
2013 calendars to arrive in December
This time of year, you're checking your mailbox more than normal. That's a good thing because 2013 recycling calendars will be arriving in December. It includes your pickup days, holiday schedules and much more information. Visit the Recycling page for your current calendar and much more. >>
Product spotlight: metals
Food and beverage containers made from aluminum and steel are perfect for your recycling cart. Recycling steel saves 75 percent of the energy required to make a similar product using raw materials. And if you recycle just one aluminum can, you save enough energy to run a television for three hours! From July through September 2012, Miami-Dade County recycled 338 tons of metals.
