PODs will be assigned to County departments and assignments have been made by numeric designation to allow flexibility on deployment locations since the nature of each disaster is unique. Management Teams will be needed for each site and will receive additional training. Departments will designate a Management Team and staff members for alternating days, e.g. odd/even days. Staff will consist of DAEs engaging in both heavy and light manual work. Heavier work may include loading supplies into people's cars, off-loading trucks and pallets and moving equipment or boxes. Lighter work includes forklift drivers, inventory controllers, community and media relations, traffic control and car counters. Departments not having specialty equipment operators such as forklift drivers or pallet jack operators should identify that need to the DEM&HS.
