    Help for Haiti

Miami-Dade County is coordinating local relief efforts and assisting Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake that impacted the country. Updated information will be posted as it becomes available.

    Citizen inquiries

The U.S. Embassy in Port Au Prince has set up a task force at the Embassy that is taking calls as conditions permit. The Embassy is working to identify U.S. citizens in Haiti who need urgent assistance and to identify sources of emergency help. Additionally, Haitian citizens in the U.S. should call the Haitian Embassy in Washington D.C. at 202-323-4090

    Adoption information

U.S. citizens with pending adoption cases in Haiti are requested to contact the Department of State for information about their adoption case. We appreciate the concerns that prospective adoptive parents have for the health and welfare of the children they are adopting, and their eagerness to receive their children in the United States as quickly as possible.

    Drop off locations

Beginning on Sunday, Jan. 17, all Miami-Dade County  Police  and Fire Stations, as well as Libraries, local schools and local Municipalities will serve as drop off sites for the collection of much needed supplies to send to the people of Haiti.

    Communication Hubs

Information and communications hubs have been set up for the Haitian community.

    Find Missing Survivors

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has launched a Family Links Website aimed at enabling persons in Haiti and abroad to register the names of relatives with whom they are striving to restore contact. It will progressively incorporate information offering responses to those queries.

If you are reporting or looking for information on a missing child, please contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's Hotline at 1-800-THE- LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Finding survivors & forging partnerships to provide relief

From its search and rescue team, who were one of the first responders on the island, to collecting food and other supplies and providing local assistance to our Haitian-American community, Miami-Dade County and its residents continue to show support for Haiti. Locally, Miami-Dade County is partnering with a number of organizations and municipalities to coordinate relief supply efforts. Today, the County began working with Food for the Poor at their existing distribution sites in Haiti.
