On Friday, June 6, 2008, from 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security in conjunction with Florida Power and Light (FPL), will test the siren warning system around the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. This is a mandatory test that occurs on the first Friday of every third month. Residents that hear sirens sounding during this time should understand that this is a test and only a test.
