On November 20, 2008, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners elected 15-year veteran Commissioner Dennis C. Moss, District 9, as its 2009-2010 Chairman.

Chairman Dennis C. Moss and Vice-Chairman Jose "Pepe" Diaz were two of more than 200,000 residents who attended the "Wings Over Homestead" Air Show at Homestead Air Reserve Base on November 7-8, 2009.

On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss sponsored a resolution co-designating SW 180th Street at the intersection of SW 137th Avenue in South Miami-Dade as Serena Lakes Boulevard.

During the early morning of Saturday, September 26, 2009, residents of the Richmond Heights community filled the room at the Palmetto Golf Course located at 9300 SW 152nd Street, in District 9 to meet with Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss for a Charrette concerning the Downtown area of Richmond Heights. Chairman Moss invited Miami-Dade Planning & Zoning Department to serve as facilitators for the community gathering.

During an afternoon luncheon, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss was invited to extend greetings to a group of conference attendees during the opening day of the 2009 AfrICANDO Conference and Symposium.

In response to inquiries from the media and Miami-Dade residents regarding staff salary increases, Chairman Dennis C. Moss held a press conference on September 2, at the Stephen P. Clark Center.

Chairman Dennis C. Moss met with U.S. Congresswoman Corrine Brown at the Stephen P. Clark Center to discuss Miami-Dade's efforts to develop a high-speed rail system that would connect several Florida cities.
