| On November 28, 2006, I was honored by my colleagues by being selected to serve as chairman of the Board of County Commissioners for the next two years. It is with great enthusiasm and dedication, that I have accepted this opportunity to serve our diverse community. I look forward to leading the Commission through the challenges that lay ahead.
The BCC supported my initiative to expand our committee structure and create an additional committee to better address growing concerns in our community. I have appointed new members, Chairs and Vice-Chairpersons to all the standing committees which include: Airport and Tourism; Budget and Finance: Economic Development and Human Services; Governmental Operations and Environment; Health and Public Safety; Recreation and Cultural Affairs and Transit. It is my role to lead the BCC, in setting policy, adopting comprehensive plans and formulating a yearly budget for all of Miami-Dade County.
