    The Office of Sustainability was created in FY 2007-08 through Ordinance 07-65 (approved by the Board of County Commissioners on May 8, 2007) which amended the Code of Miami-Dade County to establish a Sustainable Buildings Program for Miami-Dade County facilities and required the creation of a Sustainability Manager (SM) position to oversee the program. The Ordinance also mandated the use of external sustainability rating system(s) to measure the County's efforts.
