Building Green

In December of 2007, the County finalized a sustainable buildings policy that requires new County owned/managed construction projects to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification and remodeling/renovation projects to obtain basic LEED certification.  The new downtown Children’s Courthouse will be the first County facility to follow the LEED certification process.

On a community-wide level, the Building Department developed an expedited review process for commercial, industrial, and residential “green” building certified projects.
