Solar Powered Street Lights

The Department of Public Works will be installing solar powered flashing beacons at select crosswalks. The lights will also use highly efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs. Since the units are radio controlled, Public Works will not need to tear up existing streets to install, resulting in significant cost savings. Utilization of LED and solar technologies will result in further savings and safety and environmental benefits.
