Property Appraiser Garcia to Hold News Conference on 2012 Tax Roll

Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia will hold a news conference this Friday, June 29, immediately following his release of the Certification of Taxable Values to Miami-Dade County's taxing authorities; county and municipal governments, the School Board, the Children's Trust and the State regional districts.

The news conference will take place at 2:00 PM in the 2nd Floor Press Room of the Miami-Dade County Commission Chambers at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street.

On May 31, in keeping with the requirements of state law, Mr. Garcia released estimates of taxable values to the taxing authorities. Those estimates, based on 2011 market data, indicated a small overall increase in Miami-Dade County property values, with coastal communities faring better than inland communities.

The release of the estimates allowed the taxing authorities to begin preparation of their 2012-2013 budgets.

The data Mr. Garcia releases this Friday is the official certification required for the taxing authorities to continue budget preparations and begin setting millage (tax) rates.

In addition to the aggregate taxable value information he releases to the taxing authorities, Mr. Garcia will submit Miami-Dade's Tax Roll to the Florida Department of Revenue in Tallahassee for review and approval.
