Property Appraiser Encourages Property Owners to Use 2013 Values and Proposed Millage Rate to Estimate Tax Bill

Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera reminds all Miami-Dade County property owners that 2013 values have been available online at www.miamidade.gov/pa since June 1st for the nearly 1 million properties in the County. Property owners can use 2013 values and the millage rate that has been proposed by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commission to estimate their tax bill.

In previous years, property owners had to wait to find out their property’s value until the release of the TRIM (Truth in Millage) Notice in mid to late August. Now, property owners have plenty of time to visit the Property Appraiser’s Office if they feel an adjustment is necessary. This process could help them avoid a lengthy appeal with the Value Adjustment Board.
