Lazaro Solis Sworn in as new Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser, Announces Goals and Initiatives for his Tenure

(Miami, FL) – Lazaro Solis took the oath of office today as the new property appraiser for Miami-Dade County. The oath was administered by Judge Thomas Logue at the Third District Court of Appeal in a private ceremony.

Prior to becoming property appraiser, Mr. Solis served as deputy to former Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez- Cantera, who resigned from his post to serve as Lieutenant Governor for the State of Florida.  Mr. Solis will remain in office until the next countywide election scheduled for August 26th, when a new property appraiser will be elected.

Property Appraiser Solis is a 26-year veteran of Miami-Dade County government who assumed the role of assistant property appraiser in 2005 and became deputy property appraiser in 2009.  In his new role, he will oversee an office whose staff is responsible for the largest tax roll in the State of Florida, assessing the nearly
1 million properties in Miami-Dade County.

“I am honored to assume the duties and responsibilities that come with this office and I promise to carry them out to the best of my abilities.  I will apply technological innovation to fulfill the office’s mission of providing the highest quality service to the residents of Miami-Dade, while producing fair and equitable assessments.”
