Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia will continue to Accept Property Tax Benefit Applications pass the March 1 Deadline

Miami-Dade County, FL – Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia will continue to accept property tax benefit applications, such as the Homestead Exemption or Portability, passed the property tax filing deadline on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. The application process for all benefits now requires property owners to submit an “Extenuating Circumstance Form” where they will need to detail the reason for the late filing.

Property owners who have not had an opportunity to file for Homestead Exemption or Portability may still be able to do so online or by scheduling an appointment online to visit our offices. All applications and forms, including the Extenuating Circumstance Form, can be found on our website at www.miamidade.gov/PA

“Florida offers many property tax benefits for property owners that may provide long term tax savings. Please visit us at one of our locations or apply online by visiting our website at www.miamidade.gov/PA. My office will accept all late applications for all property tax benefits,” said Property Appraiser Garcia.
