Greynolds Park to host history lecture series with historian and archivist Alan Sokol, starting September 25, 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Greynolds Park Boathouse

Miami-Dade Park & Recreation is proud to present a new cultural program at its Greynolds Park.   Greynolds Park will begin hosting a History Lecture Series starting Friday, September 25, 7:30 - 9 p.m., at the Greynolds Park Boathouse, 17530 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL. 

Conducted by Alan Sokol, historian and archivist for the North Miami Beach Public Library, history buffs will learn all about South Florida's rich heritage, and enjoy an evening social with coffee and refreshments on the porch of the newly renovated historic boathouse. 

Lecture series topics include:

Friday, 9/25/09: The Civilian Conservation Corps in South Florida
Friday, 11/27/09: The Pioneers of North Miami
Thursday, 2/11/09: The Seminole Wars
Thursday, 4/15/09: Flagler- Celebrating the Arrival of the F.E.C. in Miami

Admission to the lecture series is free and lecture begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.  Space is limited so reservations are encouraged by calling 305-945-3425.  There is a $5 parking fee for Greynolds Park.   Light snacks and beverages will be sold during the event.
