See legendary Birdman Tony Hawk fly at Miami-Dade Parks' Westwind Lakes Park

1-4 p.m., Sunday, August 21

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
The legendary Birdman Tony Hawk and his skateboarding team will kick off their Birdhouse Skatebaord MIA to NYC Tour on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Miami-Dade Parks' Westwind Lakes Park, 6805 SW 152nd Avenue, in Miami.  There will an autograph session with Hawk from 1-2 p.m. inside the park's recreation center, followed by his skateboarding exhibition at the outdoor skate park until 4 p.m. The event is free to watch.

Hawk will be joined by world-class skateboard champions Kevin Staab and Willy Santos, and a host of astounding amateurs, such as Aaron "Jaws" Homoki, Riley Hawk, Shawn Hale, Clint Walker, David Loy, Shaun Gregoire and Elliot Sloan.

The event is presented by Quicksilver and powered by Tech Deck, and features street skating, half-pipe action, finger-boarding, product demos, live entertainment and giveaways.

This will be the only Miami stop on the tour.  From here the crew will head to Tampa and Jacksonville before making their way to New York City.
