    Leisure Access Services

    Leisure Access Services offers programs for children ages 6-22 with disabilities.  All programs will offer arts and crafts, sports, field trips, literacy activities and social skills training.  In addition, some sites will offer swimming. All of these programs are offered free through funding by the Children’s Trust Grant. Call 305-755-7848 V/TDD to register. The participating parks are listed as follows:

    Eligibility      

    • Ages 6 and older

    Afternoon Programs

    • A.D. Barnes Park Leisure Access Center
      3401 SW 72 Avenue
      Miami, FL
      305-665-5319 (V/TDD)

    • Adult Afternoon Programs
      Adults with educable/mild developmental disability and severe learning disabilities can enjoy a rotating schedule of activities in sports, arts and crafts, sailing, bowling and field trips.
      Age: 18 and up.
      Day: Monday-Friday. This is a year round program.
      Time: 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

    • Fun on Fridays
      Social program for developmentally disabled and mildly autistic adults offering indoor activities and community trips.
      Age: 17 and up.
      Day: Friday; 8 week cycles.
      Time: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    • Friday Night Social
      Dancing, prizes, and refreshments. A fun night out for people who are emotionally and developmentally disabled or severely learning disabled.
      Age: 17 and up.
      Day: 3rd Friday of every month
      Time: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    • Recess Day Camps
      Age: Children, 6 and older, and adults
      Day: Days when there is no scheduled school
      Time: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
      Special activities such as arts, crafts, nature appreciation, walks, sports, and more for persons with disabilities. Children in these programs are closely supervised.

    • After-School Club for Children with Disabilities
      Children and young teens with various physical disabilities can enjoy fun-filled afternoons with a rotating schedule of arts and crafts, swimming, bowling, quiet games and more.
