Farmers market at Tropical Park provides fresh produce & plants, serving local demand and stimulating economy May 16 – 17, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade Park & Recreation Department is sponsoring a Farmers Market Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at Tropical Park's north entrance parking lot by the park's marquee on Bird Road.  The event will feature fresh fruits, vegetables and plants from local growers, all of whom will be showcasing and selling their products.  Admission is free.

"We are confident that this new urban agricultural market - the farmers market - will afford our community a more efficient, economical and healthy way to purchase fruits and vegetables.  It is also another manner in which to help our local economy, as these fruits and vegetables are grown in our County," said District 10 Commissioner Javier D. Souto, in whose district Tropical Park is located.  According to the commissioner, "Now more than ever, we must buy our produce locally, not only as a result of our public health concerns, but also because we are thereby stimulating our local economy and creating jobs in our County."

Tropical Park is located at 7900 S.W. 40 Street (Bird Road) in Miami.

Miami-Dade Parks creates outstanding recreational, natural and cultural experiences to enrich you and to enhance our community for this and future generations.
