(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Journey back to the roots of the 1960s at the Greynolds Love-In, where patrons will see The Grass Roots live in concert at the annual 1960s-themed outdoor festival and concert, presented by Miami-Dade Parks, Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, District 4, and Majic 102.7 FM, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Greynolds Park, 17530 W. Dixie Highway, in North Miami Beach, Florida.
From 1967 to 1972, The Grass Roots set a record for being on the Billboard charts 307 straight weeks. Known for their smash hits including "Temptation Eyes," "Midnight Confessions," "Sooner or Later," and "Wait a Million Years," they are one of only nine bands that have charted 29 or more Top-100 Billboard singles, and sold over 20 million records worldwide. The Grass Roots produced one platinum and two gold albums, and 13 gold singles during their 1966 to 1975 heyday. Their recordings have withstood the test of time.
In addition to The Grass Roots, other bands performing throughout the day include local artists: Rewind; The Fit; Been There, Done That; and Black Star.
Greynolds Love-In also includes lots of family-friendly activities including a 1960s costume contest, hoola-hoop competitions, Frisbee-toss and Frisbee-golf competitions, vintage clothing, a kid's fun zone with activities and games, food and beverage vendors, and much more.
"I'm happy to support our annual Love-In," said Sally Heyman, Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District Four where Greynolds Park resides and an ardent supporter of the event. "Events like the Greynolds Love-In bring high-quality entertainment, culture and even a little bit of history back into our parks for people in South Florida to enjoy," she added.
Admission to Greynolds Love-In is free. There is a parking fee of $10 per vehicle. The event entrance will be located at 22 Avenue and N.E. 186 Street. Coolers are not permitted on site. For more information, please visit www.greynoldslovein.com, or call Greynolds Park at 305-945-3425.
