(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- The Miami-Dade Park & Recreation Department is inviting residents to Park It! at its many parks and attractions throughout the month of July, in celebration of National Park & Recreation Month.
With 263 parks and 12,848 acres of land, each of Miami-Dade’s parks is an oasis in the bustling County, offering residents a wide variety of recreational escapes to de-stress, get fit, and reconnect with nature. Escapes such as Eco-Adventures™ Tours into South Florida’s sub-tropical wilderness areas with naturalist guides offering kayaking, snorkeling, and other activities; pristine beaches; skate courts; picnic shelters; camping; fitness boot camps; tennis; golf; dog parks; mountain bike trails; a farm village; the Deering Estate at Cutler; and the renowned Miami Metrozoo soon to be renamed “Zoo Miami;” and many other amenities and attractions to enjoy this summer, and all year long.
In honor of National Park and Recreation month, Miami-Dade Parks will celebrate by offering several events and special offers in July:
- July 3-5 – Miami Metrozoo turns 30 and permanently changes its name to Zoo Miami. To celebrate these occasions, the zoo is offering $5 entry to the park and will feature special events throughout the weekend.
- July 4 – Blackpoint Park and Marina will host its free admission annual fireworks display at 9 p.m.
- July 8 – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto will present Miami-Dade Parks with a Proclamation declaring July as Park and Recreation Month in Miami-Dade County.
- July 12-16 – Country Club of Miami Golf Course – Two-for-one offer – after 5 p.m., bring a friend to the lighted driving range and get a free large bucket of golf balls.
- July 13 – For registered summer camp participants – UM Health will conduct a mini health and wellness clinic at West Perrine Park for children enrolled in the Miami-Dade Parks Fit-to-Play, Green-it-Up summer camp.
- July 17 – Deering Estate at Cutler will host Fee-Free “P.L.A.Y.” Days on Saturday, July 17th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bring your family and friends and enjoy complimentary admission as well as hands-on eco-art activities, science discovery programs, and historic house tours – all for free!
- July 20 – For registered summer camp participants – UM Health will conduct a mini health and wellness clinic at Ruben Dario Park for children enrolled in the Miami-Dade Parks Fit-to-Play, Green-it-Up summer camp
- July 24-25 – Larry and Penny Thompson Campground – Tent campers will pay the reduced price of $10 per group of four people for the two-days and receive a free complimentary one-day admission pass good for
- July 25 to the beach and waterslide. Offer open to Miami-Dade County residents only. Children must meet the height requirement of 48 inches to ride the waterslide.
- July 27 – For registered summer camp participants – UM Health will conduct a mini health and wellness clinic at Country Village Park for children enrolled in the Miami-Dade Parks Fit-to-Play, Green-it-Up summer camp
- July 1-31 – Trail Glades Range:
- First-time skeet shooters receive one free skeet shooting lesson. Reservations are required. Ammunition and target cost not included.
- Only $5 rate beginning at 5 p.m. weeknights for shooting at the Trap and Skeet fields.
- Buy 10 rounds of Trap and Skeet for the price of nine rounds.
- Bring a first-time shooter to the main range, and you get a free three-hour admission to the main range.

We just want people to take their time and enjoy some of the great parks, open spaces, cultural and natural areas in Miami-Dade, and to remember what an important contribution they make to the quality of life and the ultimate prosperity of this community,” he added.
