(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Artists interested in participating in the 2011 ArtSoBay Exhibit must complete a formal application, available on the Deering Estate website. The entry form must be completed and returned with a $25 entry fee by January 16, 2011. This is an OPEN call to artists. The idea of an open call is to allow each of the submitting artists the opportunity to showcase their current work without the restrictions of a theme or concept. Applications that include all forms of media are accepted. Please submit only current work - completed in the last two years. All works submitted must be original work of the applicant. No reproductions or copies will be accepted.

The SoBay Festival of the Arts kicks off at the Deering Estate on Friday, February 4th with the ArtSoBay Exhibit Opening at 7:00 pm. The exhibit opening is free and open to the public. Each year, hundreds of artists apply for this very select exhibition juried by local art icons like David Castillo & Bernice Steinbaum, amongst others. We are pleased to announce that Rene Morales, Associate Curator for the Miami Art Museum (MAM), will serve as this year's esteemed guest juror.  The exhibit will run through March 11 and is free with regular Estate admission.
