Call to artists for the 2011 Spring Photography exhibit at the Deering Estate at Cutler

(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
As part of the annual Deering Seafood Festival and Earth Month celebrations and activities, the Deering Estate will host a month long photography exhibit in the historic Stone House and Richmond Cottage. The Deering Estate is currently accepting applications for the 2011 Spring Photography Exhibit. The exhibit opening is on Wednesday, March 16th at 7:00 pm. The exhibit opening is free to the general public.  The exhibit will be on display through April 17th to guests visiting the Estate and is free with general admission. The exhibit will also be showcased during the Living Artist Concert Series, "Waters of Biscayne Bay" concert on Sunday, April 17th at the Deering Estate at Cutler.

Artists interested in participating in the 2011 Spring Photography Exhibit must complete a formal application, available on the Deering Estate website. The entry form must be completed and returned with a $25 non-refundable entry fee (made payable to the Deering Estate Foundation, Inc.) by February 27th. Submissions should in some way focus on water - H2O - in their inspiration, themes or content. All forms of photography are accepted - digital/film, abstract/literal, contemporary or traditional photography forms are encouraged.  Photography with an environmental focus and/or conservation message are welcomed but not required.  The Deering Estate at Cutler Exhibit and Collections Advisory Committee will jury in applications and notify selected artists by March 4th.

About the Deering Estate at Cutler
The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October - May).
