(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Kites of all shapes and sizes from around the world will fill the sky from noon-5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the 18th annual Kite Festival at Haulover Park, 10800 Collins Ave., Miami.  This dazzling seaside air-show will feature a spectacle of mega-fliers by world-renowned kite-makers, such as the 100-foot squid by Peter Lynn of New Zealand and the 30-foot scuba man by Martin Lester of the United Kingdom, along with food, music, kite competitions and kite-building classes-for all ages.

"The 30-foot scuba man is a newcomer to our event," said Dan Ward, the owner the Skyward Kites kite shop at Haulover Park, who coordinates the Festival. "We just flew him in from England last week, so we're anxious to get him up in the air, in full wet suit, for his Miami debut."

Spectators are welcome to bring a blanket and make it a picnic in the park. Participating food vendors include Haulover Park's own dockside restaurant Café Azul, The Roasted Corn, Jefe's Original Gourmet and Dolci Peccati Gelato.

For those who participate in the kite competitions, prizes will be awarded to best homemade kites, highest flying kites, prettiest kites and kites with the longest tails. Kites will also, be available for purchase, starting at $5.

Festival admission is FREE. Parking is $6. For directions and further information about the Kite Festival at Haulover Park call Skyward Kites at 305-893-0906, or Haulover Park, 305-947-3525.
