Miami-Dade County Parks Offering Fun and Thrilling Halloween-Themed Festivities for Families, Kids and Teens


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Why limit your Halloween thrills to one day, when you can enjoy more than a week of Halloween-themed festivities that are being offered by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. Here's a listing of fun-filled Halloween happenings for families, kids, and teens at Miami-Dade County parks and attractions that includes everything from Halloween movie nights and costume contests, to haunted houses and spooky trail hikes. 

Now through Oct. 31
11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Dr. Wilde's Creepy House at Zoo Miami
A 7,000 square-foot haunted house guaranteed to send chills up and down your spine when it debuts. We will make your every fear come to life!  Roaches take over the kitchen while cats take over a cadaver's home.  What will you find when the freezer defrosts - a zookeeper or two perhaps?  You'll have to come and see for yourself!  With an admission cost of $5/person (not included in zoo admission), this house of chills will remain open through October 31.  Parental discretion is advised for young children. Ghost Tour "Be Your Own Investigator" at the Deering Estate
"Be Your Own Investigator" and become part of the Paranormal Investigative Team as we discover evidence and occurrences with the League of Paranormal Investigators. Please dress comfortably. Bring your own flashlight, mosquito repellent and any equipment you wish to use. Pendulums, dowsing rods, EMF meters, voice recorders and cameras are welcome! Tour may contain mature subject matter. The cost is $25 per person. Tickets can be purchased online for an additional fee or by calling the Deering Estate Ticket Office at 305-235-1668 ext. 233. Hunter's Moon Stargazing Party at Fruit & Spice Park
Under the allure, and mystique of the full moon, Southern Cross Astronomical Society will guide you through a celestial exploration of the heavens. The night includes a campfire sing-a-long and storytelling.  There will also be moonlight tram tours. Bring along a blanket to sit by the campfire, as well as hot dogs and marshmallows to toast.  Admission is free.  For information, call 305-247-5727. Spooky Tales at the Deering Estate

Halloween "Spookover" at the Deering Estate
Experience the Deering Estate at Cutler overnight when the LIGHTS ARE OUT!!! The League of Paranormal Investigators will take guests on a Paranormal Investigation of the historic houses and main grounds. Guests are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring along a flashlight, mosquito repellent, a camera and their favorite ghost detecting equipment. Halloween attire is welcome, but not required. This is not a sleepover - there will be activities and investigations all night long.  A light breakfast will be served. The tour may contain mature subject matter.  The cost is $65 per person. Ghost Tours at Arch Creek Park
Have a ghostly encounter this Halloween at Arch Creek Park - one of Miami's best-kept secrets! This naturalist guided tour takes you on a journey through the park's history, detailing ghost sightings that date back to the late 1800's. The cost is $6 per person and reservations are required. Spooky Zoo Nights at Zoo Miami
Spooky Zoo Nights is an after-hours family event.  The $10.95/person admission ($9.95 for zoo members) features Dr. Wilde's Creepy House, spooky tram rides, ghoulish carousel rides*, and chilling story-telling around a fire pit.  Goodies and a roving street theatre will add excitement to the pathways. *Ghoulish carousel rides are an additional fee. Included with zoo admission, families and kids ages 12 and under are invited to trick-or-treat in costumes, participate in costume contests, watch special performances, make Halloween crafts, see our wild animals get their Halloween goodies, and more! Music and games with fun prizes will be provided by Radio Disney AM 990 and The Coast 97.3 FM.  Zoo Boo is included with paid zoo admission. Campfire at Bill Sadowski Park and Nature Center 
Join naturalists for a family-oriented evening learning about nocturnal native wildlife, followed by a trail hike in search of these creatures.
