Step Up to the Test with Heat Legend Tim Hardaway at Miami-Dade County's First Annual Family Adventure Challenge

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Gather the family for a fun-filled Family Adventure Challenge! Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces has teamed up with the Tim Hardaway Foundation and The Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade for the first annual Family Adventure Challenge, taking place on Saturday, December 15, 2012, 8:30 a.m., at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40 Street, Miami, FL 33156.

The Family Adventure Challenge is a 2K race that incorporates six exciting obstacles, Stadium Challenge, Crazy Crawl, Tire Maze, Hay Day, Triple Threat and The Beast, that families will have the opportunity of completing together.  Families will run through a winding trail as they climb stairs, get dirty crawling under balloons, scamper through a tire maze, hurdle through hay bales, maintain balance on a beam, and finally tussle through the huge inflatable beast!

Heat Legend Tim Hardaway will be on hand throughout the day and will even engage in a basketball game of horse with the children.  The event will also include a kid's zone full of inflatable obstacles, and a live DJ.

Family Adventure Challenge is an effort in giving back to the community of Miami-Dade County and getting entire families engaged and excited about physical activity. Proceeds of the event will go towards The Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade to support Miami-Dade Parks' Fit2Play afterschool program.

To register, families can go to www.TeamFootWorks.Org, under the "Races" tab. Children must be ages four and up to participate and must be accompanied by an adult. Cost of individual race without obstacles (2K only) is $15. Cost for teams participating in the obstacle challenge differs depending on team size - teams of two (one adult, one child) is $45, teams of four (two adults, two children) is $75, teams of six (two adults, four children) is $105. Each team member registered will receive a t-shirt, and all children will receive a medal for participation once they've finished the race.
