Information Sessions for the 2013-2014 Educational Programs at the Deering Estate at Cutler & Bill Sadowski Park

Please join us for the following information sessions and open houses to learn about the exciting educational programs that the Deering Estate at Cutler and Bill Sadowski Park will offer for 2013-2014:

DEERING ESTATE AT CUTLER

Educational Programs for Homeschoolers and the Community 2013-2014
FREE INFORMATION SESSION on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10:30 am, 3:00 pm & 7:00 pm in the Stone House Ballroom at the Deering Estate at Cutler located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue. For additional information, please contact the Deering Estate Education Team at 305-235-1668 ext 222 or [email protected].

Eco-Academy (ages 6 & older) - offered on Tuesdays from 10 am - 12 pm, Tuesdays from 2 pm - 4 pm; Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm
The Eco-Academy Program provides hands-on curriculum where participants engage in interactive, positive and balanced activities to help them understand, appreciate and think critically about the world around them. The cost is $50 per 4 week session, plus a $12 annual registration fee. Free for parents participation.

Wildlife Conservation Studies (ages 9 & older) - offered on Thursdays from 10 am - 12 pm or Thursdays from 2 pm - 4 pm
The Wildlife Conservation Studies Program focuses on recreational and experiential learning and connects participants to the environment while engraving environmental stewardship. The cost is $50 per 4 week session, plus a $12 annual registration fee.

Applied Environmental Science (ages 12 & older) - offered on Wednesdays from 10 am - 12 pm or 2 pm - 4 pm
The Applied Environmental Science Program is an interdisciplinary program that covers the fundamental concepts in Ecology, Biology and Environmental Sciences developed with field research techniques in mind. This program bridges conventional methodology with field exposure. The cost is $50 per 4 week session, plus a $12 annual registration fee.

BILL SADOWSKI PARK

Young Explorers Program (ages 2-5) - offered on Thursdays at 10:30 am - 12 pm or 1 pm - 2:30 pm
FREE OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, July 27 & Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm at Bill Sadowski Park located at 17555 SW 79 Avenue.

The Young Explorers Program teaches toddlers to learn about Science and Nature by discovering through multi-sensory hands-on experiments. Participants will refine their cognitive abilities using their five senses as well as their imagination. They will use their creativity by touching, watching, feeling and experiencing the real world around them! The cost is $50 per month, plus a $12 annual registration fee.

About the Deering Estate at Cutler
The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October - May).
