The Deering Estate at Cutler Welcomes Legendary Violin Virtuoso Charles Castleman as Part of its ''Living Artist Concert Series'' and Free Master Class The Mayor's Youth Sports Championship Series


(MIAMI, January 7, 2014) - For music enthusiasts, the Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble presents superb concerts intimately set in the historic Stone House Ballroom. Internationally acclaimed musicians collaborate with world-renowned guest composers, artists, and talented youth performers as part of the Deering Estate at Cutler’s Living Artist Concert Series, Piano Master Series and Master Classes. The Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble includes: Laura Wilcox (Violist), Dr. José R. López (Pianist), and Ross Harbaugh (Cellist).

The concert on Friday, January 17th, 2014 “Golden Age of French-Belgian Romantics” features the legendary violin virtuoso, Charles Castleman with the music of Cesar Franck and Camille Saint-Saens. The cost is $25 for adults & $12 for students (Grades K-12 with Student I.D.) Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Deering Estate Ticket Office at 305-235-1668 x 233. Concerts begin at 7:15 pm; Meet the Artist Reception at 6:30 pm in the Stone House Ballroom.   

On Saturday, January 18th, 2014, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Charles Castleman returns to the Deering Estate for a string master class. The master class is Free with regular admission to the Estate - $12 for adults and $7 for children (ages 4-14). 

The Living Artist Concert Series is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.

Charles Castleman, perhaps the world’s most active performer/pedagogue on the violin, has been soloist with the orchestras of Philadelphia, Boston, Brisbane, Chicago, Hong Kong, Moscow, Mexico City, New York, San Francisco, Seoul and Shanghai.
