Call to Youth Artists for Youth Arts Day & Music Fest at the Deering Estate at Cutler
(MIAMI, March 11, 2014) - Youth Arts Day & Music Fest 2014 “Dance! Draw! Dream!” is a community collaboration celebrating creativity, youth artists and diversity while creating awareness of Miami-Dade County’s rich cultural resources. Youth Arts Day & Music Fest features a three-week long visual and literary art exhibition as well as a day long series of youth performance and art on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 at the Deering Estate at Cutler, located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. APPLICATION PROCESS ENTRY FORM
Youth groups and individual youth artists (visual, literary & performance) interested in participating as an artist in the 2014 Youth Arts Day & Music Fest must submit the non-competitive application form and any digital samples by April 1, 2014. Submissions are limited to one per student.
COSTS
There are no application costs to participate as an artist in Youth Arts Day & Music Fest. Youth artists or their sponsoring organization are responsible for supplying his/her own equipment, exhibit materials, transportation and anything necessary to complete his/her submission. All youth visitors (K-12) are given free admittance to the Estate on May 4h. Adult admission is $12.
YOUTH ARTS DAY AWARDS
Founding members of the Living Artist Concert Series and the Estate’s Artists in Residence have offered their time and talent to act as volunteer judges to award winning visual art and writing submissions. Performing arts participation is non-competitive and is scheduled throughout the day.
SCHEDULE
APRIL 1: Application forms due at the Deering Estate.
APRIL 25 & 26: Drop off of student work at the Deering Estate.
MAY 4: YOUTH ARTS DAY & MUSIC FEST, 10 am to 5 pm.
MAY17 & MAY 18: Artwork pick-up from the Deering Estate.
About the Deering Estate at Cutler
The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October – May).
