Miami New Construction Show to build up Million Trees Miami
(MIAMI, July 22, 2014) — Highlighting the critical role of trees in Miami-Dade County’s thriving construction market, the Miami New Construction Show announced that it will partner with Million Trees Miami and BioPlanet USA by promoting tree planting during its inaugural show, August 29-31, in the Miami Beach Convention Center. The three-day exhibition will promote Million Trees Miami’s goal of achieving a 30 percent tree canopy by 2020, to more than 35,000 realtors, investors and developers that are projected to attend.
“It’s exciting to have the support of the Miami New Construction Show behind the mission of Million Trees Miami,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “We look forward to the impact of their green influence.”
Currently, Miami-Dade’s tree canopy ranges between 12 and 14 percent. Since the county’s Community Image Advisory Board launched Million Trees Miami in 2011, more than 161,000 trees have been planted.
“We are honored that in its first year of existence, the Miami New Construction Show partnered with Million Trees Miami,” said Miami-Dade County District 9 Commissioner and CIAB Chairman Dennis C. Moss. “These public private partnerships are what will help Million Trees Miami achieve its goal of planting one million trees by 2020.”
“With industry representatives coming from all over the world, it is essential to convey Miami-Dade’s commitment to creating beautiful sustainable communities,” said Anita Funtek, CEO, Miami New Construction Show. “What better way to do that than combining construction with the environment?”
