Call to Youth Artists for the Youth Arts Exhibit at the Deering Estate at Cutler
(MIAMI, August 18, 2014) — The Deering Estate at Cutler is seeking Youth Artists to participate in the Youth Arts Exhibit. The Youth Arts Exhibit is a community collaboration showcasing visual and literary arts by K-12 students in the setting of one of Miami-Dade’s rich cultural landmarks, the Deering Estate at Cutler. The exhibit is accompanied by the Deering Holiday Wonderland, an annual holiday decorating tradition sponsored by local garden clubs. A series of special events will highlight both exhibits throughout the month of December. The Youth Arts Exhibit runs from November 28, 2014, through January 28, 2015. Please note that the Deering Estate at Cutler is closed on Christmas Day.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Youth groups and individual youth artists (visual and literary) interested in participating must submit the attached non-competitive application form by November 7, 2014. Kindly limit submissions to one entry per student and a maximum of 25 entries per school or organization.
COSTS
- No application costs to participate
- Free admission to the Estate on Wednesday, December 17th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for our Exhibit Evening
- The Youth Arts Exhibit & Holiday Wonderland will be on display daily from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
SCHEDULE
November 7, 2014: Application forms due at the Deering Estate
November 20 & 21, 2014: Drop off of student work at the Deering Estate
December 17, 2014: Youth Arts Exhibit Evening, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. free and open to the public
January 30 & 31, 2015: Artwork pick-up from the Deering Estate

The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 p.m. (October – May).
