"Picnic in the Park" at the Deering Estate at Cutler


(MIAMI, December 16, 2014) - On Sunday, January 11, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., spend a relaxing day with your family and friends at the Deering Estate at Cutler and enjoy a picnic on the main lawn. Guests who bring a picnic lunch or who purchase a preordered meal through an official picnic provider will receive a reduced admission fee of $7 for all ages! Please note that grilling and cooking is not permitted on the Estate.

Joanna’s Marketplace is an official picnic provider for the Deering Estate at Cutler and can be contacted directly for preordered meals which are available for delivery to the Estate or for pick-up. To order please call 305-661-5777.

Activities include:
• Old Fashion lawn games;
• Historic House Tours at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.;
• Tequesta Trail Tour at 12:30 p.m.;
• The second day of “Affair en Plein Air,” an outdoor juried painting event by GroveHouse Artists, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Judging takes place at 1:30 p.m. Juror Dan Bondroff;
• Youth Arts Exhibit featuring youth works from the Ceramic League of Miami;
• Outdoor Birdhouse Build and Design Exhibit by Miami-Dade College’s Dr. Lyle Culver and his Architecture History, Design and Landscape Construction classes, and community students.

The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October – May).
