Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez to lead Bike305 ''Bike-To-Work Day'' Ride

Residents are encouraged to try cycling and leave their cars behind

(MIAMI, March 4, 2015) - The Department of Parks Recreation and Open Spaces is once again hosting the Bike305 Bike-to-Work Day Kick-Off event. This annual signature event highlights a calendar of cycling activities during March, which is “Bike305 Month” in Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez will join Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava and municipal Mayors, who will be demonstrating the ease of cycling to work, especially when combined with a trip on public transportation. Residents are asked to leave their cars behind, if only for this one day, to reduce traffic congestion and experience the stress-relieving health benefits of pedaling a bicycle.

Refreshments and free Bike305 T-Shirts will be distributed to commuters arriving by bicycle.  T-Shirt supplies are limited.

Bike305 is a collaboration of Miami-Dade County municipalities, Miami-Dade Transit, and cycling groups throughout South Florida, promoting healthy lifestyles and transportation alternatives through bike-friendly events, promotion of safe, connected bikeways, trails and greenways, and programs that teach safe-cycling skills to children and adults.
