Summer butterfly walks at the Deering Estate At Cutler


(MIAMI, June 1, 2015) – The Deering Estate at Cutler is home to several rarely seen species of butterflies. Guided butterfly walks will be offered this summer on the following Saturdays: June 27, July 25, August 22 and September 26 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Guests will walk with a Deering Estate naturalist through various habitats in search of Dina Yellow, Dingy Purplewing, and Atala butterflies, as well as others of the nearly 40 species that are onsite. The butterfly walks are free with regular Estate admission: $12 for adults, $7 for children (ages 4-14), and free for Deering Estate Foundation Members.


About the Deering Estate at Cutler
The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 p.m. (October – May).
